Virginia Samuella Baugus

The Baugus branch of our family tree extends all the way back to England in the mid 1500's. While not much is known of their time in England, the Baugus name goes back much further and I'm sure in time I will find other ancestors of this branch.

The Baugus' were among some of the early settlers of this country, calling early Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina their home for decades. They would have friendships and kinship's with some of this country's "founding fathers" and they can stake claim that they too were some of this country's original settlers.

Their influence and prominence is well documented and as of this writing I've accounted for at least 13 generations of Baugus'. There are a few accounts that I can't thoroughly explain but I've done my best with the information available.

Virginia's Story

My great-grandfather Robert Sambo and great-grandmother Samuella Virginia Baugus (1861-1945) who never married were blessed with two children:

Elaska "Hoot" or "Manchild" Tyson born on Jun 9, 1898
Mamie Bell (Abernathy), born July 9, 1903.

My great-grandmother Viginia Samuella Baugus ‘eldest child was Linnie born in 1886 who died in 1900 at the age of 13 and unfortunately her father is unknown to me at this time.

Robert and Samuella (Grandma Sammy) as mentioned were never married and there was a lot of speculation as to why. I've been told that great Grandma Sammy didn't want to marry Robert. Why, I'm not certain, and it only leads me to speculate, so, I won't.
